Shani Newbold

Managing Partner

Shani is the founder and Managing Partner of Cadence Partners. She has over 20 years’ experience in executive search and talent management in the UK and US. She has delivered successful talent acquisition and diversity consulting assignments for not-for-profit, central and local government, and healthcare and other public- sector organisations. Shani personally leads all of our executive and Board recruitment assignments.
Shani was a founding member and principal of the public-sector search practice at Penna Executive Search. Later, as Head of Executive Search, she built and led the executive search business at another large diversity-focused executive recruitment business. Her experience has focused on recruiting senior executives within the public sector, as well as designing talent acquisition strategies and talent management programmes that drive better diversity outcomes.

Shani’s experience includes recruiting Board-level roles across all functional areas at the Department of Health & Social Care, Home Office, Department for Media, Sports & Culture, Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, Department for Transport, HS2, Associated British Ports, Highways England, a number of NHS trusts, health and social care and disability focused charities including Leonard Cheshire, RNIB, Macmillan Cancer Support, Stroke Association and the British Red Cross among many others. Shani sits on the race advisory board at Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO).

Shahidul Miah

Associate Partner

Shahidul started his career as a Lecturer at Woolwich College of Further Education teaching English and ESOL. He moved from FE into local government, joining Tower Hamlets Council, working in the Chief Executive’s Office as the Corporate Strategy Manager.

He started his executive recruitment career with PricewaterhouseCoopers Search and Selection in 2001. Following the sale of this part of the business to Capita, the company rebranded as Veredus Resourcing, where he was promoted to Managing Consultant. His next move was to KPMG Search and Selection before being headhunted to join Rockpools to set up and lead the education practice. After five years with Rockpools, he set up Bloomsbury Resourcing in 2010 and worked with clients across the public and not-for-profit sectors. He joined Cadence Partners in 2020. He is also a Vice-Chair of Governors at Mossbourne Community Academy in Hackney and an external Trustee for Greenwich University Students’ Union.

Simon Pickerell

Associate Partner

Simon has over 15 years’ experience in public and private sector recruitment including education, health care, transportation and freight management. He has held a senior position with a national recruitment agency for several years and established his own successful company recruiting to a wide range of management level positions. He has extensive and highly developed knowledge of the requirements of diverse talent led recruitment across a variety of sectors. Having led a large team he has a sound grasp of and passion for the motivational management necessary for the growth and success of multiple projects. Simon is currently leading on Cadences Interim appointments where he can apply his expertise in research, connectivity and insight.

Philip Nelson

Associate Partner

Philip’s work within executive search and as a Trustee has provided him with a unique opportunity to develop long term relationships with senior figures within the commercial, financial services, academic, public and not for profit sectors and within parliament.

He has served as Chair of the 7/7 Memorial Trust and Vice Chair of Best Beginnings and he currently serves as a trustee of Coram Beanstalk, the national literacy charity and with Theodora Children's Charity, which brings music, magic, fun and laughter to children in hospitals, hospices and specialist care through visits from Giggle Doctors.

He has built an enviable reputation within executive search as a consequence of his understanding of the sectors he works within, his connections, the strength and quality of the shortlists he is able to deliver and his palpable commitment to supporting his clients to achieve the diversity they seek.

His board-level experience includes the appointment of Chairs onto the Boards of ActionAid UK, Earthwatch Europe, the Foyer Federation, Gregynog, MyBnk, Showtown, the museum of fun and entertainment, and with two regional committees of the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Rachael Yates

Head of Operations

Rachael manages all back-office functions, including finance, GDPR, IT and HR. Before joining Cadence Partners in 2015, Rachael worked for the London Ambulance Service in various operational roles. She ultimately became a Clinical Lead and special programmes lead. She graduated from Brunel University with an MSc in Medical Anthropology.

Alex MacLeod

Head of Research

Alex has worked in the executive search and selection sector for over 10 years where he has mainly focused in the not for profit sector. Over that period he has held research positions with global firms, such as Egon Zehnder and Odgers Berndtson. In his last role he was Head of Research for a boutique search firm in the government relations/communications sector. He is now a freelance research consultant supporting Cadence Partners with a range of assignments.

Alex is very committed to social justice, on a personal and professional level, and he brings a significant track record in charities in pursuit of poverty alleviation, on a national and international level. These include Depaul, Power to Change, Coin Street Community Builders, Scope, Mencap and many more. He brings a significant track record at Non-Executive level across sectors. These include the Chairs of; The Energy Savings Trust, Wilton Park and, most recently The Academies Enterprise Trust.

Faith-Rose Chattaika

Project Manager at Re:Purpose

Faith-Rose is Project Manager at Re:Purpose, an initiative sponsored by Cadence Partners, which matches senior, board-level professionals with small, predominantly BAME-led or BAME community focused providers, disproportionally impacted by COVID-19. Faith-Rose has two years’ of project leadership experience in various project management roles, planning events and managing programs that advocate for equality and empowerment.

Angela Goldberg

Associate Partner / Assessment

Angela is a versatile assessment and development specialist, with extensive experience across the private and public sectors and internationally (US, Far East, Africa and Europe). She is very diversity-confident with a strong understanding of unconscious bias. This enables her to work confidently with multiple stakeholders. She is an agile communicator. Her report-writing is pithy and accessible.

She is accredited to use a wide range of psychometric tools including WAVE, OPQ 32, Firo-B, Hogan Development Systems, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Strengthscope, NEO P-IR, the Talent Q suite, the Leadership Judgement Indicator, the Decision-making & Self-regulation Assessor (DASA), Emotions & Behaviours at Work (EBW), a tool measuring Emotional Intelligence in leadership, ‘Engage’, which measures change-readiness, and ‘Implicitly’ which measures Unconscious Bias.

Angela is also adept at behavioural assessments using business simulations such as role plays and group activities, and she can operate across diverse assessment settings like recruitment, career management, and team-profiling.

Following her first degree, Angela successfully completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Careers Guidance, and an MSc in Strategic Learning and Development (Distinction). She holds Certificates of Competence in Occupational Testing (Levels A and B). Her assessment expertise is enhanced by the fact that she is a qualified executive coach (Institute of Leadership & Management).

Andy has extensive experience in the successful design and delivery of business wide transformational change, IT & digital transformation, cultural change, talent management, organisational design and the mobilisation of organisations.

Amongst other accomplishments, he delivered the organisational design & governance for the set-up of the London 2012 Olympic Delivery Authority and as Director of HR & Recruitment he oversaw all talent acquisition – all of which culminated in the successful delivery of the 2012 Olympic Games.

He has extensive experience operating within senior interim Organisational Effectiveness, Transformation and Change roles and has experience working directly to CEOs, MDs and Exec Boards. He has designed and implemented holistic transformation frameworks to carry out organisational diagnostics and ‘fit for purpose’ reviews. He has led on organisation structure change, project delivery and the development of Employee Value Propositions.

In addition, Andy has developed and implemented an overall cultural change programme – ‘Good to Great’ – which is, to date, still regarded as one of the most innovative and effective cultural change programmes in the transport sector.

He is a qualified executive coach and brings insight and extensive experience in behavioural change management, culture change, employee engagement and communications to ensure successful implementation of transformation and change programmes.

Agnes is a leading expert in disability and the wider diversity agenda. She has led on research for government, Arsenal FC, and EHRC to name a few. Her strategic insight and approach have helped shape some amazing inclusive solutions in leadership development and search.

Robert Muncaster

Senior Research Consultant

Robert has a decade of experience leading high-end and executive searches throughout the public, private and third sectors. Prior to a career in recruitment, Robert held senior leadership positions within customer service and operations, becoming instrumental in implementing both cultural and process change for a number of multi-national organisations.

Robert is also in the process of completing a CIPD Human Resources Management diploma which is further enabling him to understand organisational systems and identify ways in which he can contribute to the agenda of dismantling barriers that are preventing a greater diversity of talent at leadership level.

Marcia Williams

Senior Consultant

Marcia has extensive experience recruiting to the public sector for over 10 years. Over that period she has recruited on an internal basis for social care roles across adults and children’s services at London Borough of Camden. Prior to joining Cadence Partners, she was a Senior Researcher for an executive search firm sourcing candidates for Assistant Director and Director roles across a range of different functions for local authorities and housing organisations.

Marcia uses her recruitment skills to volunteer for the Blockchain & Climate Institute, a not for profit organisation, which focuses on using technology to tackle climate change.

Andrei Racasan

Andrei specialises in executive search and social research in the not-for-profit space. Prior to joining Cadence Partners, Andrei led on numerous Chair, Trustee and NED search assignments for a variety of charities and socially focused organisations. Notable placements include the Chair of the British Science Association, 4 Trustees for The Air Ambulance Service and 3 Investment Directors for the Key Fund, a social investment firm.

Andrei also led on and contributed to a number of research publications including Charities: Inclusive Governance 2018, The 100 Most Influential Women in Engineering and Inclusive Impact 2019 – a report examining the diversity of the social investment sector in the UK.
