Chief Creative Officer c. £115k

Yes, you read that right – a non-profit that wants to change the world through creativity. 21Hundred’s culture and mission is rooted in the application of imagination as method, and we’re looking for a creative ‘first among equals’ to show us what’s possible, and foster a rich culture of artistic making and encounter that advances our movement.

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the wider senior team, the Chief Creative Officer will lead workstreams covering production, storytelling, marketing, and audience experience. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Chief Creative Officer will be responsible for shaping and stewarding our public-facing identity – helping 21Hundred engage, move, and grow its community of supporters, partners, and participants. You’ll be starting from a solid base, but we know there’s enormous potential for our brand and its reach, and we want to grow it in every way possible. Your creative leadership will define our voice, our presence, our identity and our look and feel. Like Spike Lee, we want a 21Hundred Joint to be instantly recognisable, wherever it’s found across the globe.

We are looking for someone with an assured ability to understand and communicate with all our audiences, and set an agenda for what we describe as planetary Blackness. You must live and breathe a courageous values-driven leadership style, and relish the complexity, challenge and scale of the task we have taken on. Blending creative director, storyteller, brand strategist, and cultural connector, you’ll appreciate the subtle craft to what we do – and how we work – that sets us apart. Sometimes we will need to devise a new alphabet before we can start using it, so you’ll bring a highly developed ability to think thoroughly, reflect generously, and act consistently.
