Robert is an executive search specialist with close to nearly two decades of experience hiring senior leaders across the public, private and third sectors. Over the course of his career he has supported hundreds of high level appointments for organisations that sit at the heart of UK civil society. His focus has always been on helping clients find leaders who not only deliver results but also understand the real world impact of inequality, exclusion and uneven access to opportunity.
His drive for this work did not appear out of thin air. Growing up as the only Black pupil in a school of seven hundred, he learned early how difference shapes experience. At the time he simply got on with being a teenager, but looking back he can trace a clear line between the casual hostility he normalised in his youth and the more serious aggression he faced as he got older. These experiences left a mark, and they continue to inform how he moves through the world and why he cares so strongly about equity.
Rather than let those experiences harden him, they pushed him towards work that increases representation, challenges systemic barriers and helps others progress into positions where they can influence change. His recent CIPD qualification sharpened his understanding of organisational systems and strengthened his commitment to supporting workplaces that are fair, accountable and genuinely inclusive.
Today, Robert applies that perspective to his board role at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, an organisation dedicated to championing Black arts, creativity and cultural expression. In this capacity he contributes to governance, strategy and leadership oversight, helping ensure the organisation continues to create opportunities for underrepresented artists and communities.
Outside work, he is very much a human being rather than a walking job description. He enjoys long walks with his wife and son, film marathons on tired evenings, music that makes him think, and writing poetry that nobody is allowed to read until he says so.
