Comic Relief is one of the UK’s best loved and most widely recognised charities. They work to drive positive change through the power of entertainment, and flagship events include Comic Relief, Sport Relief and Red Nose Day. With an innovative operating model that sees running costs covered by shrewd investment, millions of generous participants and donors have raised an astonishing total of over £1bn in the past 35 years, all of which has gone to improving lives in the UK and across the globe.

A lot has changed since 1985, and Comic Relief have invested considerable time and thought into recasting their focus and philosophy to address emerging challenges and opportunities. As a creative agency for social change, they are committed to being impact-led; to channeling creativity; and to working smart. If you’re looking for a genuinely creative way to make a concrete difference to the world, this influential and visible leadership role could be the most important move you make.

What inspires people to care about (and thus to support) the causes and charities that that they fund? Simple: world-class creative. The entertainment, stories and partnerships we produce – sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, and always meaningful – engage millions of people of all ages, and move them from emotion to action. So this role is central to Comic Relief’s entire proposition. You’ll oversee and lead our creative output, liaising with agencies, BBC commissioning teams and our Creative Advisory Committee to build strong, two-way relationships that ensure our creative content is brilliant, compelling and true to Comic Relief’s values.

You’ll need to truly love Comic Relief's mission and the world in which they undertake it, with a razor-sharp grasp of the modern mainstream and a burning desire to engage mass audiences on an emotional level. A sophisticated grasp of how to collaborate with numerous stakeholders is vital, and you’ll know how to deliver high-quality work with talent of National Treasure rank. Able to deliver across all channels (TV, Radio, film, digital, live and virtual events), the work that you produce with your team will be some of the most seen and shared entertainment of the year, and we’re expecting that your track record will be commensurate with this extraordinary opportunity.
