With You is the new name for the organisation formerly known as Addaction. Founded over 50 years ago as a way to enable families to support each other and work together to overcome problems with drugs, alcohol and mental health, their work is rooted in the values of mutual aid, peer support and collaboration — families helping families to make it ok to ask for help and find support to get better.

Over the past five decades, they've collectively acquired an enormous amount of experience, knowledge and insight about the ways that people and families overcome problems with alcohol, drugs and poor mental health. They take a deeply personalised approach to each individual, respecting their journey, context and hopes for the future. Their frontline teams work in towns, cities, hospitals, prisons, schools, through outreach in people’s homes, with other local services, and nationally online via webchat and self-help advice.

With You provides free and confidential support to more than 100,000 people a year. They provide support to people in the way that’s right for them either in their local service, community or online. They also use their expertise to raise awareness and improve the help available.

They're a big organisation, with 2,000+ people contributing as staff or volunteers, and their reach is nationwide. And they're determined to design services that really work to help more people achieve their goals, inspiring broader changes in society and the sector. To achieve their ambitious strategy, the last few years has seen significant transformation taking place across the organisation.

2020 has shown just what’s possible in terms of thinking and doing differently, and they want to learn from this experience, changing how they work, so that their people can thrive in their jobs. They're committed to providing better tools and platforms to help people work effectively, improving how they lead and support people to develop. They’ll create new partnerships to work together on shared problems, try new things and learn together.

This is where their new Director of People and Inclusion will really get to work. The candidate will lead on the full spectrum of people strategy and implementation, making them an exemplar in how they attract, motivate, develop and retain their people. They want to take a whole-system view of the employee journey, understanding how they can both create an optimal workplace and enable their staff to work effectively for the people they support.

An experienced people leader, the candidate will have experience of designing and leading the people strategy in at least one large, complex organisation, and a track record of success in leading a significant change programme is essential. As well as being a skilled problem solver, able to influence at all levels and drive transformational change, the candidate will have the insight and knowledge to lead a team that manages high-risk employee relations issues. A practical grasp of the complexities of a geographically dispersed organisation, and of contracting services within the public sector, would be a distinct asset.
