Chair - Travalyst

Posted 30 July 2024
Salary £12,000

Job description

Founded in 2019 by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, Travalyst is successfully driving system change in the global travel industry. As a principled and non-profit organisation, our ambitious vision is for sustainable travel to become the mainstream choice for good.

Today, Travalyst works in partnership with eleven of the world’s leading companies and brands associated with travel, including Booking.com, Expedia, Google, Skyscanner, Visa, Sabre and Mastercard. We provide a neutral, independent convening platform which empowers travel companies and service providers to share data and accelerate change. We aim to make credible and consistent sustainability information easily available, so that travellers and companies alike can make better, greener choices.

Our Board, comprising highly experienced Directors who are recognised as important leaders of change in the travel and sustainability sectors, plays a vital role in setting and overseeing Travalyst’s strategic direction. We now invite applications to become the first permanent Chair of our Board.

Our new Chair will be at the heart of driving our continued growth and impact, and will be an influential and inspiring advocate of our vision. As well as leading the Board and supporting the Travalyst executive team, you will undertake extensive external-facing work to advance our mission with credibility and confidence, forging international coalitions of purpose and securing the backing and endorsement of major global organisations.

Candidates must be highly skilled, exceptionally well-networked and bring an impressive record of executive leadership at global C-suite level. You may have founded and scaled one (or more) innovative and disruptive businesses, probably in the travel sector; or you could bring a background in politics or NGOs, where you have led a full-spectrum process of change that bridges continents and sectors. A working knowledge of competition law across global jurisdictions, and an understanding of the principles of pre-competitive collaboration would be an advantage; but with comprehensive expertise already on the team, it’s not essential.

You must have a nuanced grasp of corporate governance and the characteristics of effective boards, and will understand how to operate successfully within complex and multi-dimensional contexts. Your personal and professional integrity will be beyond question, and you will exemplify the highest standards of conduct in everything you do.
