Director of Finance, People & Performance - Kinship

Posted 11 June 2024
Salary £77,250 per annum, including London Weighting of £3,323 (if applicable)

Job description

Kinship carers are amazing people. They are the grandparents and siblings, the aunts, uncles, and family friends who step up to raise children when their parents can’t. Increasingly recognised as a positive alternative to the care system, kinship care keeps children in the family, leads to better outcomes and economic benefits. Yet it’s poorly supported, and kinship carers often feel marginalised and overlooked. We think that should change.

Kinship is the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales, and we won’t rest until every kinship family has the recognition and support they need and deserve. We’re growing rapidly, and are investing in the structures, capacity and talent we’ll need to achieve our goals. We want to ensure that our people have the support they need, and that our central services support change and provide what we need to be our best. The more streamlined and professional our ‘back office’, the more effective we can be on the front line.

This role will be at the heart of building a robust operational infrastructure that will enable us to scale up rapidly, help more families, and change even more lives. You’ll lead on financial systems and planning, organisational performance, business planning, technology and our overall People Strategy, and will ensure best-in-class business support for our home and office-based staff.

We know that an organisation like ours relies on having a healthy, respectful and optimistic culture, and you’ll exemplify that in your leadership style. Candidates will be values-driven, commercially-minded, strategic and forward-thinking. You’re likely to have experience of change management, excellent people skills, and hands-on knowledge of how a growing organisation can successfully expand its reach and impact. Strong financial acumen is a must: you’ll be a qualified accountant with previous experience of overseeing finance, operations and IT functions, ideally in a charity setting.
